Michellie Jones and Rudy Project together on the podium in the Ford Ironman World Championship

Michellie Jones and Rudy Project together on the podium in the Ford Ironman World ChampionshipIt‘s the most gruelling triathlon contest, held each year in Hawaii. The thirty-six year old Australian athlete, twice World Champion and vice-Olympic champion at Sydney 2000, considered one of the greatest tri-athletes in the history of this sport, won second place during her debut, preceded only by the Swiss Natascha Badmann.

A fantastic result achieved by Jones who, already at the beginning of the race, in the sea around the island of Kalilua-Kona, ranked among the leaders. Michellie concluded the 3800-metre swim in 54‘55" and, together with the American Andrea Fisher, began pursuing the other Stars and Stripes athlete, Dede Griesbauer. Michellie Jones jumped onto the seat of her bicycle, put on her Syton, the protective helmet created by Rudy Project to satisfy the technical-professional requirements of timed races, and caught up with Griesbauer, completing the 180 kilometres of the route in 4‘54"13, one of the very few athletes to do so in less than 5 hours.

In the marathon that concluded the Ironman 2005, Michellie saw herself being overtaken by Badmann but, with a great show of resistance, defended her second place, finishing the competition in 9‘11"51 and winning another prestigious honour to add to her collection of prizes. An honour that Rudy Project, as the official supplier of Michellie Jones, also won thanks to Syton, a helmet designed to guarantee perfect performance through total control over the stream of air, which ensures the best aerodynamic characteristics. Thanks to its micrometric fastening system, the Syton helmet guarantees a perfect fit as well as total safety and comfort for Michellie Jones and for all those who choose Rudy Project.
