
Once again, Rudy Project will have a high profile in top-level sports, this time at the 19th Winter Olympics, to be held in Turin, Italy, from 10 to 26 February 2006. Sixteen days of great sport when over 2,500 athletes from 85 different countries will compete in fifteen different disciplines.
Around 180 athletes will be wearing Rudy Project sunglasses, all fitted with new ImpactX photochromatic lenses, featuring state of the art photochromatic, polarized technology for advanced visual clarity in all weather conditions.
The sportsmen and women who will be wearing Rudy sunglasses throughout the Games include Enrico Fabris, Italy‘s great hope in the long-track skating, current holder of the Italian record in the 1,500 and 5000 metres. Female athletes in this sport include Chiara Simionato, winner of the last World Cup over 1000 metres overall, and the Italian record holder. Another athlete expected to do great things is Fabio Carta in the short-track, at his third Olympics, already the silver medallist at Salt Lake City four years ago.
In cross-country skiing, Rudy Project will be supplying, among others, Giorgio di Centa, silver medallist in the relay at the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002, winner of another silver at the Double Pursuit at the Oberstdorf World Championships 2005. There‘ll also be Cristian Zorzi, silver medal winner at the Nordic World Ski Championships at Lahti in 2001 in the 1500 metre sprint, and bronze medallist at the 2002 Olympics.
Among the women, Gabriella Paruzzi, gold medallist in the 30 km Traditional event at the 2002 Olympics and winner of the World Cup 2003-2004.
In the German team, Axel Teichmann, overall winner of the 2005 Cross-country Skiing World Cup, the promising Tobias Angerer and among the women, Evi Sachenbacher. There are also many athletes from the US, Norwegian, Chinese and Swedish teams, including Lindh Bjorn and Mathias Fredriksson.
For the biathlon, the Italian René Vuillermoz, the Byelorussian athlete Katia Ivanova and the German women Martina Glagow and Kati Wilhem. In the Nordic combined event, Giuseppe Michielli and Ronnie Achermann.
In snowboarding, the Italian Marion Posch, in her twelfth year with the national team, double gold medallist at the World Championships and sixteen World Cup victories, will be wearing Klonyx Snow, a perfectly ergonomic, hi-tech ski mask with a cutting edge design created by Rudy to ensure perfect visibility, even in extreme climatic conditions.
